Another Ragfilled update for you all. Today, the dwarves finally clash with their goblin antagonists. There will be blood. Then again, as this IS Dwarf Fortress, that pretty much goes without saying.
Another Ragfilled. Been logging a bunch of time into Dorf Fort this week, though a different fortress than Ragfilled, and in v0.34. I made a screw pump stack to get magma from 150 layers down, just to make smelting a mite easier. I then rebuilt the entire exterior and access areas of my fortress to allow me to create a magma moat, because that’s just something you do when you can have a magma moat.
It was working great, until the first caravan trying to travel up my new access path caught fire and started burning down the forest around my dwarves. Still don’t know exactly why that happened, but it’s those happy surprises that make Dwarf Fortress what it is.
It’s been a while coming, but a new Ragfilled is up and ready. The dwarves continue their dwarfy tasks, like drinking, making barrels to fill with drinks, and training a militia to protect their drinks.
I had this part ready for a bit, but Tumblr was giving me some issues with posting, and not much later, then new version of DF came out, and I’ve been on that for a while.
…And then Mass Effect 3 came out…
…and then came the post-ME3 depression/anger/hurry-it-up-with-new-ending-dlc period…
…so yeah, I’ve been having trouble getting ready to go back to old DF, much less the other projects that have been stalled for a good while longer. I’m hoping to return to those soon - as well as semi-regular posting of other things that amuse me - so please bear with me for the time being.
Well, that Monday ended up being a little later than I expected. I apologize again for not updating - I wasn’t feeling well, and in any case I haven’t been able to get anything done with Bang. I have the next scene ready, but I’m just blocking when I set down to write it. Same with ZHeroes and drawing. Though hopefully those will end soon, as one of my New Year’s resolutions is to get back into a schedule with my works.
Which brings me to my new work.
While I was struggling to think of what to do with Bang and ZHeroes, I got into playing Dwarf Fortress, and I thought that it might help me get back into the swing of things if I worked on a Let’s Play of a fortress. And so begins the tale of my fortress, Ragfilled. I’ll be posting a few updates on this when I can - and I intend to have some Bang! and ZHeroes posted by the end of the week as well, if not sooner. Keep an eye on the status blog for those. If and when I can finally commit to an updating schedule, I will let you know.
